AI training jobs for mechanics. Get paid $20 per accepted hour to record the repairs in your bay.
Auto techs, diesel and fleet techs, body techs, and small-engine mechanics clip a small camera to their chest, work the ticket the way they always do, and upload the footage at the end of the day. eeko pays $20 for every hour that passes review, separate from your shop pay, and AI systems learn something no manual contains: how an experienced mechanic thinks with a wrench in hand.
What are AI training jobs for mechanics?
AI training jobs for mechanics pay working technicians to record their normal diagnostic and repair work from a first-person camera, so that AI and robotics systems can learn from it. A repair is not a procedure; it is a sequence of decisions. Which code to chase first. Whether that noise is a bearing or a heat shield. How hard to pull before you reach for heat. When a bolt is tight enough. None of that lives in a service manual, and all of it is visible in an hour of footage from a good tech.
eeko builds production AI systems for regulated enterprises, and the models behind the next generation of diagnostic tools and repair robots need data that nobody has published: consented, recorded by skilled people, and verifiable clip by clip. Our data capture practice exists to collect it, and this mechanics program sits with the others on our get paid to train AI hub. The rate is $20 because footage of skilled repair is scarce and buyers pay for scarcity.
Nothing about your day changes except a camera on your chest and a line on the work order. The shop signs once, and a reviewer pays for the hours they can use.
One intermittent no-start, from write-up to test drive.

Cars, trucks, bikes, mowers, and excavators are different jobs with the same core: find it, open it, fix it, prove it. All of them are wanted.
From application to the first Stripe payout.
Nothing is recorded until you are onboarded and the shop has signed. After that, the camera rides along on normal repair orders.
$20 an hour of accepted footage. Flat rate stays flat rate.
You are not working for eeko. You turn wrenches for the same shop, bill the same hours, and keep the same customers. The program adds a camera and a line on the work order, and nothing else to your day.
- No schedule Record the jobs you want, skip the rest
- No quota A quiet week costs you nothing
- No exclusivity Short participation agreement, cancel any time
Every hour a reviewer accepts is credited at $20. Once the mount is dialed in, expect 70 to 85 percent of what you send to pass. Ten recorded hours with eight accepted is $160; most of a 30-hour week at the same ratio is near $480.
- Stripe payouts Automatic, every upload itemized
- First hour guaranteed Paid in full even if it fails review
- Rate in writing Confirmed before you record, never cut on accepted hours
The camera is on the repair, not on the customer's life.
Who agrees, and what gets removed
- The shop owner — signs a written agreement before any recording. Owner-operators sign for themselves.
- The customer — covered by a consent line on the work order for that job. No signature, no recording.
- Plates, VINs, and paperwork — blurred before delivery, along with registration, insurance cards, and dealer stickers.
- Inside the cabin — personal items, mail, car seats, and anything left in the vehicle are blurred or cut.
- People — coworkers, customers at the counter, and anyone passing the bay are blurred.
- You — pause for a phone call, an estimate conversation, or a test drive. Unrecorded minutes are simply not counted.
Footage goes to named buyers under licence with the consent record attached to every clip. The fingerprinting, timestamping, and audit trail behind that are described on our verified human data page.

Mechanic AI training jobs, straight answers.
How much can a mechanic earn from AI training jobs?
$20 for each hour of footage a reviewer accepts, paid separately from your shop wages or flat-rate hours. Plan on accepted hours rather than bay hours: test drives, parts runs, customer conversations, and breaks are paused out, and the first few uploads typically come back 15 to 30 percent short while you learn where the camera needs to sit. Eight accepted hours in a week is $160. A tech recording most of a 30-hour week at the same ratio is near $480. No cap, no minimum, and the rate is in writing before you start.
What about my customers and their vehicles?
The lens is on the repair, not the customer. The owner of the shop signs a recording agreement, and one consent line on the repair order covers the customer's vehicle for that job; anyone who declines is simply not recorded. Before any clip is delivered, licence plates, VINs, registration and insurance paperwork, dealer stickers, and personal items left in the cabin get blurred. For owner-operators, your own signature and the work-order line are all that is needed.
Is this a wage, and does it interfere with flat rate?
It is not a wage, and your flat-rate or hourly pay from the shop carries on unchanged. eeko pays a separate licence fee for footage, by the accepted hour, under a short participation agreement with no exclusivity, no quota, and no schedule. Nobody books your bay. Record every job for a month or one job a week, and stop whenever you like. Unrecorded time and rejected uploads are not paid, except your first hour after onboarding, which is paid in full regardless.
What camera holds up in a shop?
Your own phone in a chest harness or a small action camera on a chest mount, which copes with grease, dust, and the occasional knock better than most techs expect. Working under a vehicle or inside an engine bay is where mount angle matters most, so we go through it on the onboarding call and send you a short checklist. We do not supply equipment, but we will confirm whether what you have is good enough before you record anything.
How does a reviewer decide an hour is accepted?
A person on our team watches the upload and checks four things: it shows real diagnostic or repair work from your own eye line, it is sharp and lit well enough to follow the tool and the part, the shop had agreed to recording in writing and the work-order line is in place, and it is not a repeat of something you already sent. Every upload comes back with a note on what passed and what to change, so most techs are above 80 percent accepted within a few uploads.
Which specialties and locations are you taking?
Auto mechanic, diesel and fleet, tire and lube, body and paint, motorcycle and small engine, bike mechanic, heavy equipment, and detailing, anywhere in the United States. Marine, RV, and agricultural equipment techs should apply as well; we add specialties as AI teams ask for them and will tell you plainly if yours cannot be placed yet. Factory, warehouse, and skilled-trade work each have a program of their own.
Who sees the footage from my bay, and what is it for?
Approved AI and robotics organizations that have signed a written licence with eeko. They use it to train and test systems that need to learn how a skilled tech narrows down a fault, decides what to check next, pulls an assembly apart, and proves the fix. Identifying details are blurred first; every clip carries its consent record, a cryptographic fingerprint, and a signed provenance record; and nothing is posted publicly or resold on an open marketplace. Our verified human data page explains each step.
Own a shop or run a fleet garage? Put every bay on it.
Shops and fleet garages join under one agreement. The consent line goes on your standard work order, every tech who records is paid for their own accepted hours, and we handle the blurring and the paperwork so your service desk never has to. Mention the number of bays in the form, or ask for a call.
